The Psalters describe themselves as "a nomadic tribe of psalters, walking in the footsteps of ancients past to the far corners of the present, united as one voice against the oppression within and without." They are musicians and activists, traveling and partnering with other Christian communities, like the one Shane Claiborne is a part of in Philadelphia, The Simple Way. They seek to follow the example of Jesus in loving the hungry, homeless, ill, poor, outcast, lonely people of the world. Through their music they call the church to speak out and act on behalf of the oppressed.
